An Ayurvedic Scholar Charaka (100 BC) quoted for Giloy “Giloy is one main herb with bitter taste. It helps in stimulating digestion and helps in alleviating Vata, Pita and Kapha Dosha. The herb is used to cure constipation, diabetes, cough, anemia, jaundice, leprocy, bleeding disorders and fever.”

Giloy is considered as Rasayana which means that it helps in lengthening the lifespan.
