According to Bhavprakash Nighantu (Ayurvedic text) : “Daal chini is pungent, bitter and sweet in taste and manages Vatta and Pitta doshas. It promotes Shukradhatu (reproductive health) in the body and improves complexion. It manages dryness of mouth and thirst.”

Cinnamon supports immune system by promoting the growth of immune cells. It can act as a pain-killer due to its prostaglandin-inhibiting action. (Prostaglandins are made at sites of tissue damage or infection, where they cause inflammation, pain and fever). Cinnamon stimulates the blood circulation, in the fingers and toes to provide warmth in cough and cold and used as traditional remedy for aching muscles.

Cinnamon is used to treat gastrointestinal problems and to help calm the stomach. Cinnamon is a carminative, an agent that helps break up intestinal gas that has traditionally been used to combat diarrhea and morning sickness. It helps to relieve mild abdominal discomfort caused by excess gas. It is known to relieve nausea and vomiting, and because of its mild astringency it is particularly used for infants suffering from diarrhea.
